CONFIDENTIAL: THE RAP SHEET

[ THE CRIME ]

Refusing to aim small. Most of the people we know are working incredibly hard at lives that are quietly too small for them. We are trying — slowly, badly, in public — to do something else.

[ THE MOTIVE ]

We’re trying to do something here.

A small group of people aiming too large. We are writing things, building things, and figuring out what it looks like to be ambitious for something other than ourselves. We are not waiting for permission. We are mostly not sure what we are doing. We are doing it anyway.

[ MODUS OPERANDI ]

The Capybara Principle. We aim at things larger than us. Most of the time we do not get them down. That is the point.

In Contact. We stay close to the actual thing — the work, the question, the place, the people. The system is the scaffolding. It is not the work.

The Pouch. We pool what we have. Skills, time, ideas, tools, money. If you have a question and someone has a method, the pouch holds both.

No Names. Members are uncredited. The work is what speaks. The collective is the protagonist, not the individual.

[ WHAT WE'RE BUILDING ]

We make whatever the work demands. Writing. Software. Films. Stranger things we do not yet have names for. The medium follows the question.

So far, two things exist:

The Capybara Problem [↗] — an essay
Studio Prajna [↗] — a studio within the Pelicans

More is coming.

[ THE FIRST PROJECT ]

We found it. It's a civic story studio.

Budget: $500.
Crew: open.
Medium: documentary, paperwork, campaigns.
Deadline: until the problem is solved.

The first thing this group makes together — not under the Studio, not on the page, but as the collective. We take small civic stories — the problems nobody big enough is paid to care about — and we make them impossible to ignore. Documentaries that show the thing. Paperwork that moves it. Campaigns that won't let it sit.

We're still choosing the first story. We're looking for the right one, and the right people to make it with.

If you have one, tell us.

[ WARNING ]

This is NOT for everyone.

If you need guarantees, funding, or a clear career path — walk away.

If you’re tired of waiting and ready to make something real with whoever shows up — step forward.
